They are equivalent for IRCC purposes. Sign-In Partner is more convenient if you already bank in Canada (one less password to remember); GCKey is the right choice if you do not have a Canadian bank login.
I forgot my GCKey username. What now?
Username recovery requires the recovery email you set at signup. If that email is also lost, you must register a new GCKey — but linking it to your existing IRCC application requires a separate workflow that the kit walks you through.
Can I use the same GCKey for me and my spouse?
No. Each applicant needs their own credential. Sharing a GCKey is grounds for IRCC to refuse the application for misrepresentation. Set up two credentials in parallel using two recovery emails.
Does GCKey expire?
The credential itself does not expire, but inactive accounts (no sign-in for 24 months) get archived. If you sign in at least once a year, you keep continuous access.
I created a second GCKey by mistake — how do I merge them?
You cannot merge GCKeys. The kit shows you which credential to keep based on which one is linked to your active application, plus the steps to deactivate the orphaned one.
What happens if IRCC changes the rules after I buy?
